Graduation giving
Graduation marks the first step in the next exciting stage of your life, with the skills and experiences gained at York assisting your progress into the world of work or further study.
As you’ll be aware, students next year will have to pay much higher fees and some will be worried about taking on this substantial commitment without extra support.
York has a great mix of students and we want all of them to know that those that have gone before are standing together to support them and help them to have the best experience possible, no matter what their background.
That’s why we’re asking you to make Giving to York part of your graduation.
A gift of just £10 from each graduating student would generate more than £40,000 - imagine the impact! If just 100 of our talented graduands gave £10, you could fund one student bursary for a young person embarking on their journey at York next year. This would help to bridge the gap between their student loan and the cost of living. It really doesn’t take much to make a difference.

Join Wil, Sam and Chey and give just £10.
Cheyann Heap

"My volunteering project with older people received a grant that led to us being YUSU's Volunteering Project of the Year 2012. £10 is the least I can give to help future students continue contributing to the local community". Chey Heap, Psychology graduand
Wil Bevan

“I know the difference a gift to York makes, so I'm encouraged to give and support the next generation of York students” Wil Bevan, PPE graduand
The difference donations make.
YUSU Volunteering Officer (Louisa) and Cheyann (a student volunteer) talk about the difference alumni donations have made to their experience and activities.
Support students who follow in your footsteps
You’re sure to know someone who has benefited from the support of the York Annual Fund. Graduates who have gone before you have made gifts that funded projects and bursary support totalling over £900,000 in the last ten years. You can find out more about the range of projects that receive support in the last edition of Nouse Together you can make a difference – please give today.
-
If you can’t manage £10, then please give what you can afford, all gifts really do add up.
-
You can choose to help next year’s students with Achieving Excellence Bursaries or to support clubs and societies.
-
The University takes no administration fees from gifts which are all channelled to these student projects directly.
- If you have been fortunate enough to have secured a job, could you consider an annual gift by direct debit? This not only helps us to plan the support that we can give but will make you a member of The Yorkies, our regular supporters group, which will keep you in closer touch. Thank you.
