Professional contact
The role:
Students often have one-off questions about a particular career that are best answered by someone who is actually doing it and can share their real life experience. Some would like to speak to someone in their chosen field to explore their career ideas further.
The person:
Can you communicate well and engage with students offering them information and advice about your profession or organisation?
- Could you talk on a one to one basis with York students about your field of work via telephone or email?
- Do you have an awareness of the challenges facing students today and a commitment to help them progress in their chosen career?
The commitment:
The time commitment is as much or as little as you can manage – you may wish to answer ad-hoc queries or be in regular touch with a student; it depends on how much time you have available.
