Interviewer
The role:
It is important that students have experience of being interviewed to help them prepare for the real thing. We regularly set up practice interview sessions and ask our alumni to volunteer to play the part of the recruiter. As part of our York Award we use volunteer interviewers on the interview panels to help in the assessment process.
The person:
- Could you put a student through their paces and give them a realistic view of how a graduate recruitment interview is carried out?
- Could you give constructive feedback to “candidates” to help them improve their technique to increase their chances of success when it comes to the real thing?
The commitment:
Practice interviews usually take place on campus and you can take part in as few or as many sessions as you want. The York Award assessment process is held annually in February/March and interviewers would typically take part in two or three 2 hour sessions.
