Your legacy: building our future
The dreams of our founders in 1963 are today a reality, the University of York sits amongst the top ten Universities in UK, with 13,000 students and over 30 academic departments.
It is a University where innovation and excellence in research stand side by side with a sense of community and inclusivity, and where ‘life-changing’, is not just used to describe the experience had by our students, but the medical breakthroughs achieved by our researchers.
Philanthropy has played an important role in the success of our first 50 years and with your help we can do more. Legacy giving will become increasingly important so we'd like to ask you to consider a gift to the University in your will. This will help us build our future and realise the potential of tomorrow’s brilliant minds.

Why I give to York...
"I see a university such as ours as a lifeline to the future. The brightest students from all over the world will come to York long after I'm gone to study subjects we haven't yet dreamed of in ways we can't even imagine. They'll arrive with the same confusion we had about the geography of the place and leave, as we did, changed for ever. It is for these students that I've made a bequest to York in my will"
